According to Experian Simmons, â€œ98% of college students use social media on a daily basis.â€(Dossett,2020). This clearly indicates the influence of social media in studentsâ€™ lives. Â Some are of the opinion that with an increase in online and virtual learning, students are more engaged in learning. Mittal (2020) says that Â webinars, online discussion forums and other such platforms can foster collaborations and discussions, create meaningful dialogue, help exchange ideas and boost the learning experience.â€ However, others argue that social media is a distraction for students as they spend most of their time chatting, socializing, playing online games and visiting entertainment sites which affects their academic performance negatively.
