addressed by this study is the lack of a systematic approach to developing
school leaders to positively affect school climate.

Purpose: The purpose of this
qualitative phenomenological study is to examine the role of servant leadership
practices on the culture and climate of inner-city elementary schools, through
staff members’ lived experiences, and to subsequently determine if servant leadership
should be used as a systematic leadership training for school leaders. In
addressing the central question, the lived experiences of teachers will be
explored to determine the characteristics and impact of demonstrating servant
leadership in a school setting.

Research questions:

To explore if servant leadership theory should be used as the systematic approach for developing school leaders, in order to positively influence culture and climate within educational institutions, the following research questions will guide this study:

Central Question: In the lived experiences of the teachers at a high-poverty elementary school, what are the characteristics and impact of demonstrating servant leadership in the school setting?
